We use the metaphor of a wave for an epidemic,
And see it coming towards us from the future.
When it’s done, it’s as if it got lost into the past ;
One wonders why we keep on forgetting flus,
1957, 1958, 1969, each as cruel as April 2020.
Yet the metaphor is indisputable, the curve rises and falls,
But perhaps do we have its direction in reverse.
Could it come from the past and race to the future ?
We’ll meet it again then if we move fast enough,
And we forget events yet to come, and plagues
Only say goodbye while waiting still in our forevers.
