Heard on the radio early on the way to the city
How this guy would keep on trying until
The lyrics of songs played in his teens
Would begin to make sense.
We are talking here of
The eighties, perhaps of the early nineties.
Later songs used a different vocabulary,
And then one could consider how fonts,
Gave a weird color to sound.
But who cares ; he’s just tired of his grip.
Only someone who’s in control
– and disliked it –
Could say something like that.
I thought, arriving is such a state of mind,
It creeps on you sometimes,
And there isn’t really a sign,
This guy had to guess
For himself and yet wouldn’t.
