Night sickness

It took me hours and rolls of paper towel
To clean up after my daughter’s sickness
And after I shaved this morning I thought
This is the best outcome in aught and ought.
The deadline was 10am but I couldn’t wait
For the snow to abate so I walked under
The weather and said to the shop owner :
I won’t rent like before and I will not leave
The bill to my father as often. I took pity
On the stranded car, I took pity on the single
Driver. This is how we end, sometimes
In the medicine trafic jam, surrounded
And honking through machines. I took
Two pills to feel better and I did, I kept one
For my daughter, and she did too.
